    Mountains as a Mentor

Ken Wylie is an IFMGA mountain guide, educator, author and first ascensionist of difficult waterfall ice lines in the Canadian Rockies. In 2003, as an assistant guide, he was involved in a devastating avalanche catastrophe that claimed the lives of seven clients. Since then, his self-exploration has changed how he sees and understands the purpose of the high stakes game of mountain exploration. Wylie likens mountains to be as a great mentor. He knows that wisdom dictates that all knowledge is most powerful when unearthed by the learner through inquiry. Safety resides in part, in the realm of self-knowledge gained in this way. This talk complements the 2014 publication of his book “Buried”.

  • GORE-TEX Master Class
Tamara Lunger – Art of Emotions

Currently on expedition in the Himalayas, the alpinist brings back a fresh and unique documentary to Chamonix. Instead of photo and film, she chose to tell her stories by satphone to a painter. Come and see amazing art and listen to her story. Before, you should go and get your raffle ticket at the GORE-TEX® tent for a chance to win one of these unique pictures. By taking part you support a charity in the Himalayas – great mountains, great adventures, good cause! The winner will be drawn at the end of her presentation.
